About the Role

If you love spreadsheets but also love people, this might just be your dream job. As a Team Lead, you’re the glue that holds our client relationships and internal team together. Think of yourself as the co-pilot for our clients’ financial success and the go-to guide for your team of Accounting Specialists.

You’ll be the first friendly face (or voice) clients meet during onboarding, making sure their transition is smoother than a perfectly reconciled bank statement. You’ll also be the rescue ranger when things get a little messy—solving escalations before they turn into accounting horror stories.

Your mission? Empower your team, delight your clients, and keep things running like a well-balanced ledger. And yes, there will be numbers—but also plenty of laughs along the way.

Key Responsibilities

1.      Client Engagement – The Relationship Whisperer

Be the client’s first BFF during onboarding, ensuring they get the white-glove experience right from the start.

Handle client questions, concerns, and escalations like a financial therapist—calmly, confidently, and with a plan to fix things.

Communicate complex financial concepts in ways that clients actually understand (no jargon overloading).

Build relationships so strong that clients actually enjoy talking to their accountants (yes, it’s possible!).

2.      Team Management – The Mentor, not the Micromanager

Lead a team of 2–4 Accounting Specialists (think: coach, guide, and occasional morale booster).

Make sure tasks and deliverables are on track in our practice management system (Financial Cents—which is not nearly as fun as actual cents, but way more important).

Do bi-annual performance reviews, helping your team level up their skills and feel like rockstars.

Be the go-to problem solver when your team needs guidance (no accounting question is too big or too small).

3.      Operational Excellence – The Keeper of Order & Efficiency

Team up with the Operations Leader to refine and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)—because great processes = smooth sailing.

Keep accuracy, timeliness, and quality in check like a financial ninja.

Monitor team utilization rates to keep non-billable hours in check (because time is money, and we don’t like wasting either).

4.      Performance Measurement – The Data Detective

Keep an eye on KPIs like team utilization, client satisfaction, team happiness, and deliverable timeliness—basically, make sure things are running as smoothly as your favorite Excel formula.

Report on team performance metrics to the Operations Leader, helping make data-driven decisions that actually matter.

Keep your QBO ProAdvisor certification up to date (you’re a pro, after all).

If you’re not already Xero Certified, be ready to add it to your superhero toolkit.

Stay ahead of the game with industry trends, automation tools, and AI-powered tech—because accounting is evolving, and we need pros who evolve with it.

5.      Content Collaboration

With feedback from you team spotting great content ideas from real client questions and challenges.

Provide the technical expertise by dropping knowledge bombs that can helps us create content that’s actually useful (and maybe even fun!) for our clients and prospects.

While we won’t force you to become the next YouTube accounting sensation, we’d love for you to join the party and contribute to making content when you can. Whether it’s jumping in on a video, helping with a blog post, or just brainstorming ideas—your input is golden!

6.      Client Clean-Ups & Complex Accounting

Tackle neglected or incorrect financials with precision and flair.

Rebuild charts of accounts like a pro and address historical inaccuracies with Sherlock-like detective skills.

Handle full-cycle AP/AR, progress billing, and accrual accounting like the boss you are.

7.      Operational Mastery

Manage transactions and reconciliations with grace, ensuring clients' books are always spotless.

Support job costing, inventory tracking, and other advanced accounting functions without breaking a sweat.

Use tools and tech (like QBO and possibly Xero) to keep workflows efficient and accurate.

Key Metrics of Success

Team utilization rates and non-billable hours stay in the sweet spot—because efficiency is everything.

Clients and team members rave about you (high satisfaction scores = happy people all around).

Client deliverables are on time, accurate, and headache-free (because nobody likes last-minute fire drills).

Your team is thriving! Development plans aren’t just checkboxes; they’re real roadmaps to growth and success.
